Dear Technologists,

Happy New Year and thank you for signing up for the NYC Reinvent Payphones Design Challenge. We’re excited to imagine the future of New York City’s public pay telephones.

We will start accepting prototype submissions later this week.  In the meantime, we invite you to sign-up for the NYC Reinvent Payphones Information Session, which will take place on Wednesday, January 23, 2013 from 5:30pm – 7:00pm at the FDNY Auditorium, 9 MetroTech Center, Brooklyn. Please remember that this Information Session is entirely OPTIONAL.  Given security requirements, every participant must RSVP (http://reinventpayphonesinfosession.splashthat.com) to attend and valid photo ID is required to enter the building.

During the Information Session, you and your t eam will meet City employees who work with telecommunications technology, City infrastructure, and public space.  Bring any questions you may have regarding the Reinvent Payphones Design Challenge and get to know other participants.

Representatives from the following City agencies will be on-site to answer your questions:

·       Department of Information Technology & Telecommunications
·       NYC Digital
·       Department of City Planning
·       Department of Transportation
·       Public Design Commission
·       Office for People with Disabilities
·       NYC Parks and Recreation
·       Office of Long-Term Planning and Sustainability

Feel free to Tweet us your questions in advance by including the #ReinventPayphones hashtag.  If you're still looking for a team to join or want to find collaborators on your project, please visit http://www.collabfinder.com/reinventpayphones for ideas.

Thanks,
The #ReinventPayphones Team
