This is an excellent post about the latest details around freeing MapPluto, the Dept. of City Planning's costly database of all kinds of great datasets, many of which have yet to become accessible under last year's Open Data Law. Waiting for each agency to release its own data is likely to take years, and MapPluto offers an easy way to release much of it all at once for developers, entrepreneurs and community groups.
Next on the list should be ACRIS, the even more costly product from the Dept. of Finance.
I'd love to talk to anyone involved in making a stink about access to these two databases.
