Data Visualization Hackathon @ Philips Design a big success!

On October 12 and 13, Philips Design hosted a Hackathon on Big Data visualization.

A mix of creative people, social nerds and data scientists formed ten multi-disciplinary working teams, taking up the challenge to create unique visualizations based on health and well-being big-datasets.

After an intense 36-hour session, the teams presented their amazing web applications and apps. One team actually used a special LED matrix to interactively visualize the datasets!

See twitter #pdvis and Flickr to get an impression of the event.

The winners of the 2012 Philips Design Hackathon are:
• Gold Award: The Insanes
• Silver Award: Studio Lust
• Bronze award: Jungle Minds

Congratulations, winners and thank you all for making this first Hackathon a big success! We look forward to meeting you again at the next Hackathon!
