Pumpkins, Cider Donuts, Cycling & Wine Tasting...Intermediate Pace

Hi! Everyone, It's time for one of my favorite fall Bike rides, and unless we have a sudden heatwave it will probably be the last one I lead in the 2013 season.

Our ride will start at Cider Hill Farm in Amesbury, MA.  If you arrive early you can pick apples, buy pumpkins and mums and have some of the most delicious cider donuts ever. From there we will make a loop riding about 27 miles going through several towns in NH, Kennsington, Exeter, Kingston & East Kingston. When we get towards the end of our ride we are going to stop at Sweet Baby Vineyards in East Kingston for some wine tasting. From there we will head back to Cider Hill walk around the gift shop and buy some of those yummy cider donuts (we earned it). After that we will head into Amesbury for a late lunch at one of the quaint Amesbury restaurant

The average speed of this ride is 13-15 miles per hour. The terrain is mostly small rolling hills. If it's Windy it can be difficult to push against the wind. Road bikes are highly recommended, I do not recommend the use of mountain bikes on this route. Helmets are required. Please be sure to bring plenty of water and sunscreen.

The Mileage will be about 27 miles, please do not sign up for this ride if you are not capable of riding that mileage or unable to maintain an AVERAGE speed of 13 to 15 mph.

****Please contact Cyndi if you can be a co-leader on this ride, I would love to have someone go out with the faster riders, and a sweep with the slower riders.

The meeting time for this ride is 10am leave promptly at 10:30 am.. Please only sign up for this ride if you are sure you can go and your capable of riding 27 miles.. If you are unsure and you sign up you are preventing other members who can go from signing up.

I look forward to meeting all of you and enjoying this great day! Thanks, Cyndi

It's one of our favorite rides now too. You did a nice job on the ride. I had fun. I am working on one of my friends to sponsor a hike in the Middlesex Fells..she knows it like the back of her hand.

Thanks again for a wonderful day!

Cue sheet is not ready yet, sorry. I mapped out the ride myself and I am driving it tomorrow.

Hi Cyndi! could you please post the cue sheets AHEAD of time IF you know you have rescheduled the ride. I would have loved to do the ride on my own, on original date, but couldn't, because you didn't print the route map. Can't make this one, because of going to Mexico.

Hi Cyndi, I was curious if you would have a cue sheet ? I may want to skip the wine tasting and extend my ride and perhaps meet up with the group in Amesbury. It's supposed to be an awesome day!

    Hi Cyndi

    Please let me know!
    Thanks

Hi! Laura, Hang in there & let's wait and see what happens. Often times when there is a waiting list by the night before it's pretty much gone. If there is only one or two I will move you up. As it is I made a mistake and have too many people signed up. I wanted to limit it to 35.

Yo, first-time rider, pushing 70 (years!) I average 13.5 (mph!) on rolling terrain. So, are you all too fast for me? Never ridden with you before, a friend and I are coming, (no room on rack, sorry) can Cyndi tell me if this group is too fast for me?

    October 14, 2013

    • Cindi

Hey Susie Q...you will be fine...Note above that Cyndi said the average speed for the entire ride comes out to 13 mph. Look forward to seeing you on Saturday. Oh, could you bring an extra helmet in case my duct taping art work comes off!!!!

      October 16, 2013

    • Cyndi

I think the speed of the group is perfect for you if that's what you do on rolling terrain. the last ride we did we averaged about 12.9 mph. Please note the date ahs changed.

      October 16, 2013

  • Cindi

Hi Cyndi, I would be happy to be a sweep for you, and the group, if you are still in need.

    October 14, 2013

    • Cyndi

Yes that would be Awesome!!! Thank you so much!

      October 14, 2013

  • JoNo

I see that road bikes are preferable. What about hybrids?

    October 14, 2013

    • Cyndi

JoNo, Hybrids are fine, if you can keep up with the group. Our average speed comes out to be about 13 mph for the whole ride. If you can keep that pace you are welcome.

Would love to go, if I can bum a ride (and chip in $$ for gas!) !
