Merrimack River Ride from Newburyport - 29 miles

Lets wrap up Columbus day weekend with a beautiful ride from Newburyport thru several Merrimack Valley towns and along the Merrimack River.

The Merrimack River ride heads out on Newburyport's elegant High Street, Maudslay State Park and crosses the Upper Artichoke Lake before doing several scenic miles right along the river. We will ride through the towns of Newburyport & West Newbury & then follow the river to Groveland, cross there and following the north side of the river, arriving back in Newburyport. When we finish the ride we will head over to Michael's Harborside in Newburyport for a late lunch.

The average speed of this ride is 13-15 miles per hour. The terrain is mostly small rolling hills. If it's Windy it can be difficult to push against the wind. Road bikes are highly recommended, I do not recommend the use of mountain bikes on this route. Helmets are required. Please be sure to bring plenty of water and sunscreen.

The Mileage will be about 27 miles, please do not sign up for this ride if you are not capable of riding that mileage or unable to maintain an AVERAGE speed of 13 to 15 mph.

****Please contact Cyndi if you can be a co-leader on this ride, I would love to have someone go out with the faster riders, and a sweep with the slower riders.

The meeting time for this ride is 10am leave promptly at 10:30 am.. Please only sign up for this ride if you are sure you can go and your capable of riding 27 miles.. If you are unsure and you sign up you are preventing other members who can go from signing up.

I look forward to meeting all of you and enjoying this great day! Thanks, Cyndi
