Calorie Neutral Bike Ride #1

This year my goal is to find and cycle to as many new ice cream shops in the greater Boston area as possible - please join me in my quest!

The first ride was originally from Dover to Sunshine Farm in Sherborn. Sunshine Farm is one of the 12 best places for ice cream in greater Boston according to Boston Magazine. However, it turns out that Sunshine Farm doesn't open until Memorial Day weekend, so this will be rescheduled at a later date. Starting from the same place, cycling about the same distance, we will now go to Lizzy's Homemade Ice Cream in Needham. I can attest to the fact that this is a great ice cream shop! I'd like to invite you to join me for your own taste test.

We'll meet in the parking lot of the Church of the Most Precious Blood in Dover at 10am for a 10:15am start. Total ride is 23 miles with the ice cream stop at mile 19. We'll easily burn those ice cream calories!!

The ride takes us through the bucolic countryside of Dover, Medfield, Sherborn and Needham then back to Dover again. Map and cue sheet are completed and will be available for the ride on May 3rd.

Required: Helmet, water, sunscreen, spare tube and, of course, money and an appetite for ice cream. You should be able to maintain an average speed of 11 - 12 mph on rolling hills. Food for lunch is completely optional - I personally plan to have ice cream for meal (if chocolate, this is a complete food, containing protein, dairy and vegetable). However, there are several places for food (other than ice cream) in Needham Center. To paraphrase Marie Antoinette - "Let us eat ice cream."

If this switch in ice cream shops changes your plans, please change your confirmation to a "no" and I hope to see you when Sunshine Farm is open!

Ride is limited to 20 cyclists.

Great goal for the ride! I wonder if there is a Ice Cream Century?

Lets put one together... I wonder if there are enough ice cream shops in the Boston/ Metro area to make a century course?

This list might help? Seems pretty exhaustive:
