Ride the Scenic Nashua - Ayer Rail Trail

Starting the season off with a nice easy ride and enjoy the spring weather.

Let's ride the very flat, shady, scenic Nashua - Ayer Rail Trail (24 miles round trip), stopping for ice cream, looking at the pond, and finishing at 31 Main in Ayer for refreshments. This is a nice ride because it's impossible to get lost. This rail trail is usually pretty low on traffic. There are wet lands offering beautiful views to enjoy. There's a commuter rail out to Ayer too.

Slick road surfaces will cancel the ride.

Bring water, patch kit, clothing layers, cell phone, bike helmet, sun screen, energy food, air pump etc.

I like to move at an average of 14 MPH. We'll have plenty of stops for people to catch up and plenty of places to push yourself too. If we get a lot of riders we can split into a couple groups.

If there are any questions, please post or send me a personal message.

Started out a bit wet then dried up completely and was fun all of the way. A great group of people to ride with.

The ride is on! The streets where I'm at are dry and the wind is calm and the radar is clear for ayer nashua area. I understand if you need to cancel but i'll be there.

The forecast says between 0.1 - 0.25" inches of rain, which is just a few drops. Looks like we have a dedicated crew that really wants to break out their bikes for the first ride of the season. So for now, the ride is a go!

Bring layers of bike clothing and other cool weather riding gear.

@Frank The Rail Trail is paved and has about 75% tree coverage.

Accuweather is showing lots of rain in the morning, but just clouds and showers in the 2pm slot for Nashua. Is the rail trail paved, or is it dirt and crushed stone? Kind of playing it by ear if it's paved, but if it's dirt, probably a no go.

I'd be up for either rock climbing or bowling. Does anyone have any preferences?

Typically, I'd love indoor rock climbing but am on restrictions at the moment. Hope the weather holds out for our bike ride.

Hi Everyone, the weather forecast is a bit sketchy for Sunday. We'll just have to keep an eye on the weather, but right now it's not looking too good.

How do people feel about indoor rock climbing or bowling?

I haven't ridden since October, but if the weather's cooperative I'll plan on riding the 18mi over to the starting point and maybe ride with you guys. 60mi total might be a little aggressive for the first ride of the season ;) I'll skip the signup in lieu of more definitive riders....

If we should fill up, please go ahead and sign up, I turned on the auto wait list. I'm sure we'll find a way to make room for you.

31 Main went bust earlier in the spring so no refreshments there. in fact downtown ayer which used to be a small oasis is now a desert. There's nothing there at all.
