With smooth pavement and Harbor views, many stretches along the Harborwalk are ideal for cyclists seeking a scenic ride. With it's beautiful combination of beaches, park and walkways, it's the perfect place to go biking, all within the urban area of Boston.

We’ll begin our bike ride at Fort Point Channel in Boston, head south, passing Carson beach and take a rest room and hydration break at the Edward J. Mccormack boat house.  Then we will continue on to JFK Library (there is a very short dirt section right before it), Umass Boston,  and follow the coast past weekend fisherman to Morrissey Boulevard  before heading back for lunch. (Approximate distance: 10 miles each way; 90 minutes, round trip) Post bike lunch suggestions;  Flour Bakery café, Fort Point channel

This was a very nice ride - we got to see a flurry of activity including urban swimmers in their bathing attire, urban kayakers, the ICA, the beautiful waterway path around Columbia Point (JFK Library and U Mass), and later kite boarders near Castle Island. Thanks to our leader for charting new pathways. - Marty

All in all a good day for a bike ride. The initial bike detour at the beginning was more that made up for the thrilling shoreline views and para sailing surfers at Pleasant Bay. Bonus was lunch at Flour cafe for a nice alfresco lunch.
Thanks to everyone for joining us on this bike tour. With a little retooling of the start and finish, this ride could be a gem to repeat next year.

Is anyone driving to the meetup spot from Brookline (Coolidge Corner area)? If so, would you care to carpool?

The HarborWalk extends along Pleasure Bay, to Castle Island. We will be passing Castle Island on our way to the JFK library and Umass Boston. For a better visual, you can click on the Boston harbor website link (see above) and select map.

For those driving into Boston on Saturday; you may want to leave a bit earlier, in case there is traffic(that’s because there is a pro cycling race course happening around City hall in the afternoon, but that should not affect our bike route).
Post bike lunch options: Flour café bakery(at Fort point channel) and/or the Pro cycling Boloco Block party at City hall Plaza where we can enjoy bike demos, live entertainment, Boloco burritos, a beer garden, etc.
