Bikes n Picnik

I am setting this up to see interest in biking the paths at Myles Standish State Park and then having a picnik afterwards or vice versa. We could use the day area and I am thinking more on the lines of it being a late afternoon dinner picnik, thinking maybe it could be kid/grandkid friendly depending on how ppl feel about that.

This would be potluck so ppl would need to bring something to share.

Bring plenty of water and your helmet.

A day-use area at College Pond offers picnicking, swimming, fishing, canoeing. Fifteen miles of bicycle trails, 35 miles of equestrian trails and 13 miles of hiking trails take visitors deep into the forest, which includes one of the largest contiguous pitch pine/scrub oak communities north of Long Island.

**I would need to call the rangers and confirm. RAIN CANCELLS.

Directions: take your best route to I-93 south/3 south to exit 5 Plymouth, take right/which is West, follow Long Pond Rd to East Entrance and head toward College Pond day use area.

Can someone please help Orna? I have a broken bike strap and may not return to Boston afterwards.

    May 27, 2013

I didn't have to reserve a picnic table, its first come first serve and all the bike trails are paved according to staff.

If you are doing the east side (that hopefully can use a road bike), then I'm in. Otherwise, will pass until I get a hybrid.

    May 25, 2013

    • Kim

Most likely we will meet on East side because that's the day use area.

Went riding there a couple of weeks ago-beautiful! Looking forward to this!

Sorry my girls graduation from high school have fun.....

    May 11, 2013

  • Kim

Someone told me it might be best to use a hybrid or mountain bike that has shocks as sometimes there are bumps in the road being that they are 30 yrs old. The east side of the trails are more flat and less hilly, the west side are more hilly but not major, he said small ups n downs (that is a perception my folks)
