The Minuteman Bikeway passes through the historic area where the American Revolution began in April 1775.

Today, the Minuteman Bikeway is one of the most popular and successful rail-trails in the United States, enjoyed for both healthy recreation and transportation.

The bikeway has become a new type of “Main Street” where neighbors and strangers alike come together while riding, walking, or skating on the path.

In 2008, Rails-to-Trails Conservancy inducted the Minuteman Bikeway into the national Rail-Trail Hall of Fame.

OK. I take it that means Sunday's ride is canceled. Thanks. It's supposed to hit 50 one day next week. We'll see how long that lasts!

Hi Greg, I need to know about the "road" conditions of the Minuteman bike trail. I have a road bike. Last weekend, I saw that the roads were dry, so I decided to go for a bike ride, not thinking that the pavement on the bike trail (in Chelmsford) would be laden with snow and ice. I never fell, but it was one scary ride in areas - 4 close calls in an hour of biking. Do you know if the Arlington/Minuteman trail is clear? Do they plow it? I've never been on it before and really want to go, but not if it will be icy.

Janet...The Minuteman usually does get plowed however, I've walked it (in Arlington) many times in the winter and the plow blade is not perfect . There have been some treacherous icy stretches along the trail after snowstorms....Eddie

Tyler, you are allowed to bring your bike on the T (except Green Line) on the weekends so you could take the T somewhere in the middle and ride the rest of the way, Camb/Somerville are on Red Line and you could bike from Alewife to Arlington and catch up to them.

You took the words right out of my mouth, Brenda. I grew up in Arlington but have never been on this bike path. I have a road bike and assume it won't be safe to ride on snow or ice, so I am hoping for drive conditions.

Make that "dry" conditions - not drive conditions!

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
