Ride around Irvine from Quail Hills

ROUTE MAP:   http://ridewithgps.com/routes/2676595

                    (Note several changes below)

Pedals turn at 9 AM sharp, so be there and READY to go.   Bring your helmet, liquids, at least one spare inner tube, and anything else you may want along the way!  There will be several restrooms along the route.

                              --------------------

This is a 26 mile cruise around Irvine. We'll be going out around the Great Park, up to Portola along the foothills,  down Hicks Canyon, the SDCT, and through William Mason Park.

Our route will differ from the map at  Portola and Jeffrey.  To get onto Hicks Canyon we'll stay on Portola past Jeffrey, crossing at the first opening in the center divider, then riding back to Hicks Canyon Trail.

Enjoy the downhill on Hicks Canyon to Culver.  After going through the underpass for Culver and up the other side, make a sharp RIGHT turn on the sidewalk, and another right on Culver to get to the Starbucks at Culver and Irvine Blvd.  We'll take a little break here.

After refreshments we're on Irvine Blvd to the Lower Peters Canyon Trail and head towards Bill Barber Park and the SDCT.

Head down the SDCT towards the Back Bay, but exit the trail at Harvard, go 1 block and make a left on University to get into William Mason Park.

Our route will again differ from the map as we take the long way around the park and cross to the wilderness section at Culver and Harvard.

There will be a post ride lunch for those who so desire at the food court in the shopping center at Jeffrey and Alton (Sand Canyon to Alton, turn left to Jeffrey).

Hey Y'all. Thank you for a fantastic day in the saddle. Even though I lost you all pulling out of the parking lot, it still a good ride. It was beyond great to see you all and am looking forward to seeing y'all again.

This was a great ride hosted by Mike. I'm thinking of doing it in reverse this coming Wednesday, if I can get Dean to ride with me. Good to see Michael back in the saddle with the BOCCG.

Wonderful day to ride. Warm and sunny, but not too hot. 100% attendance and everyone early, to boot! A few mishaps along the way, but nothing too serious. A big BOCCG welcome back to Michael, looking forward to seeing you on many more rides.

I would like to meet you where Harvard meets the railroad tracks at the Walnut Trail. That's at mile 16.5. What time would you be there, abouts? I'm guessing 10:30?

Barring any problems along the way that looks about right. If not there by then you can start UP the LPCT until we meet.
