Mike W  posted this ride for the first time on 8/10/13 and again on 10/5/13. Both times the riders enjoyed the ride. So come on out for a nice moderate ride.

This will be a little longer than we've done in the past, about 32 miles (Unless you choose to cut it short as this is an out and back ride and you can turn around at any point).  There is a new starting point, so check the map!

We'll leave the park and take Seapoint to PCH, then north on PCH along Bolsa Chica and through Sunset Beach and Seal Beach.  After leaving SB and crossing the San Gabriel River, we'll cross PCH to Marina Drive and go up to Second St., turn left and go through the Naples area of Long Beach to Bayshore Ave.  We take Bayshore down to the beach front bike trail, and the bike trail all the way to the lighthouse.

On the return leg we'll stay on Marina Drive and cross into Seal Beach, turning right on First St., then left on Ocean and go through town past the pier.  We hit Seal Beach Blvd. and go back up to PCH, turn right and go back past the Surfside Colony.  A right turn at Anderson (where the water tower is across from Don the Beachcomber) to South Pacific, and through Sunset Beach to Warner.  At Warner you can take either the beach front bike trail or PCH up to Goldenwest, then turn left, or cross PCH and go up Goldenwest to Palm Ave.  A left on Palm back to Seapoint, then a right and back to the start.

To cut about 4 miles you can cross PCH at Seapoint and head back to the park.

PLEASE STUDY THE ROUTE MAP AND BE FAMILIAR WITH IT

Make sure that you and your bike are ready to roll at 9:00 a.m. sharp.  Don't forget your helmet, water, and a spare tube.  There will be plenty of restrooms along the way.

If riders want to have an after ride lunch, there is a Panera located at the corner of Yorktown and Main in the Seacliff Shopping Center. From the park go to Garfield, turn right to Goldenwest, turn right to get to the shopping center. Panera is in the South East Corner of the shopping center.

Thanks Ed and Mike! It was a fantastic day! Liked this additional/alternate route to the lighthouse! Nice breezes and it turned out to be a beautiful day!

Another very nice ride, 32+ miles. Getting more comfortable on the new machine with every ride, and the 30+ milers feel like 20 on the old bike! Weather was cool and foggy at first, but had cleared by the time we hit LB. A little break at the lighthouse, then in Shoreline Village, and into a light breeze coming back. Everybody made it with no breakdowns or flats.
