Get out and see the sights of Detroit on your bike. This casual bike tour will include attractions such as Riverwalk, Dequindre Cut, Comerica Park, Heidelberg Project, Greektown, Corktown and more.
Includes a stop at Eastern Market for lunch or shopping and a beverage stop at a surprise location.
Distance will be around 20 miles. We'll be riding an easy 10-12 mph pace with some stops to regroup.
We will meet at Rivard Plaza on the Riverwalk (Atwater & Rivard). This is by the carousel and Wheelhouse Bike Shop. Parking is free in the nearby lot. If no parking is available there you can find free street parking between Jefferson and the river or see link for paid lots. http://www.detroitriverfront.org/east/rivardplaza/
http://riverdays.squarespace.com/parking/ River East parking deck is closest.
Helmets are recommended. Also, make sure your bike is in good working order (tires properly inflated, brakes working, etc.) You should also have a basic toolkit which includes patch kit, new tube and air pump.
Other suggested items to bring: Bike lock, sunglasses, sunblock, water bottle, camera and spending money for stops.
Afterwards, we will visit the nearby Riverdays Festival.
