El Tour Training ES Short Week 1 – 25 Miles

The El Tour de Tucson 60 mile event training rides will start from McMahon's Steak House this year as the 60 mile event will be starting from that location again this year. The initial ride will be a 26 mile ride. As maps will not be provided, please review the route and/or print out a map.Click here to see the map.

The 8 training rides are free. For weeks 7 and 9 there are no training rides as GABA's Tumacacori and Silverbell centuries are scheduled for those weekends. These rides have a 60 mile option and are excellent training for ETT.

Riders must wear a helmet to participate in the training rides.

Please show up no later than 15 minutes prior to the start time.

Ride leaders are Paul Yurgen [masked]   (586)[masked] and Janet Landis [masked] (520)[masked]

Location : McMahon's Steak House, Swan and Fort Lowell

Thanks for a great ride folks! If it makes you feel any better Geoff, I got a flat cycling back home (and realised that the spare I was carrying also had a puncture, ooops....)! Maybe see you on the long ride leaving from Himmel Park next week.

Sorry I don't think I can keep up, I just rode today and only averaged 12-14, I'll keep training for the next ride.

On second thought, I will be there and I'm bringing friends. Here's hoping the construction area at Ina/Oracle is clean.

So good to see GABA has kept up my little brain-child from El Tour's first year of the McMann start. While I'd love to join the kickoff riide I just don't like Ina Rd west of La Canada. I'll see you in the coming weeks though. Enjoy!

Hi there, I'd like to join this ride on Sunday, but can you tell me what the pace will be (I usually ride at 14-16 mph), and if I need to fill in any forms? I also have a couple of friends who are interested - will they need to join this Meetup group? Thanks very much, Marielle.

Marielle, I'm will be doing 15 mph average pace, slower going up hill and faster down hill. If folks want to go faster or slower, that's OK. There are no forms to fill out. Your friends do not have to join GABA meetup, just have to wear a brain bucket and obey the traffic laws. The route is pretty simple but it is a good idea to print out the route.
