Oyster Run 2013

Oyster Run Pancake Breakfast at Sound Harley Davidson from 7am-10am.  It's $8 all you can eat - Biscuits & Gravy, Pancakes, Eggs, Sausage, Coffee & Juice. All proceeds benefit Children Charities in our area.

We will meet at Starbucks Northgate at 7am with kickstands up at 7:15 - get to Sound HD by 8am and have breakfast.

We'll do some cool rides around the Whidbey back roads with a tour up Mt. Erie.  It's very twistie with lots of hairpins - if you're not comfortable w/this we can prob arrange a lift for you up to the top and you can leave your bike at the bottom.

Once we're at Anacortes, we'll be on our own schedule, so either stay with people you want to ride back with, or form a small group of your own.  I'll be riding back probably around 2-3pm which should put us back in Seattle around 5:30 or so.  I'll be taking the back roads down Port Susan on the way back .

BRING WARM CLOTHES! It's always cooler on the island, so make sure you dress right so your ride is an enjoyable one!

Keep posted for any last minute changes.

My husband and I went up to the Run and had a great time. It didn't rain hard until we got there. We had lunch and the sun came out. 3rd time at anacortes Oyster Run, 3yr we meet. See you next year. Only suggestion I would like is if they move it to Saturday it's always a nicer day

I was at the Starbucks from 7 til about 7:20. No one showed but I wasn't too surprised. I ended up meeting up some acquaintances and going to the breakfast about an hour later. Then we got to Anacortes around 10:50, sat out some bad weather, and headed home when the sunshine broke through. We didn't get rained on on the way home, but I've probably only ridden in that much wind one other time. Not a bad day, both the ladies I went with were happy with their first Oyster Run experience.

So I went, decided at the last minute. Learned a lot about riding in rain, what I need as far as rain gear (back up goggles!) etc. Weather was bad in Anacortes when I was there (not on the way up, but while I was there-and that cleared up as the day wore on), but the patches of rain seemed to be moving about the areas rather quickly, leaving blue sky and sunshine in their wake. The moral of the story, the weather men are nearly always wrong!

Current forecast is 80% chance of rain & heavy wind. I'm guessing at this point I'll be bowing out as well, but will keep the event posted for those that want to brave it or cage it.

I need to bow out of the ride this weekend. I was really looking forward to meeting everyone. :( I cracked two ribs a couple weeks ago and they just are not cooperating on the healing front. Tried to ride the Triple on Wednesday for the first time since and 15 minutes on the bike nearly killed me. So, have fun! Enjoy! And I will try again at a later date.

I did this oyster run last year, shown in this picture, and had so much fun. I am putting in the word early for someone with a back seat, preferably with a back rest, that would be willing to have me ride with them. email: [masked]
