The Ray Orr Memorial not so Rushin' River Ride

I am cross posting from the Grizzly Peak Cyclists list. My pilot Jim and I are leading this 80 mile, 2,700 ft of climb on our tandem. The pace will be a strong touring pace (12-14).Come join us for a different type of ride in beautiful country. The weatherman so far says it will be in the mid 70's.

Here is the ride description: Meet at 8:45, for 9:00 a.m. prompt departure, at Walnut Park in Petaluma (corner of Petaluma Blvd and D street) for a not so rushing tour to Valley Ford, Freestone, Occidental, Guernville and back to Petaluma by some little traveled, if a bit hilly, backroads. Lunch at the Korbel Champagne Cellars deli on River Road. The last 40 miles, after lunch, is fairly hilly, and there aren't many chances for water or snacks, so bring snacks or stock up at lunch. For those who've been around long enough to remember when this ride was a GPC summer regular, my route is a bit more hilly and about 8 miles longer than Ray's.

Thanks to Nancy & John for coming on this great ride. We had 8 riders, 7 bikes & perfect weather. Th route was varied with rollers, hilly-hills, flats, fast & slow descent & lots of great scenery. Despite her claims to the contrary, Nancy bombed up those hills. We kinda went a bit beyond the posted ride speed but everyone seemed well able to participate. Lunch was yummy at Korbel & we managed to find shady tables amongst the trees. The ride back was hilly, with some climbs over 8%! Jeff was suffering towards mile 52 & had to stop & rest. He was only using 1/4 his regular electrolytes on the advice of a dentist. (Cavities) Rick stayed with him & gave home some extra 'lytes & he perked up. One rider who started the ride 10 miles in, drove & picked Jeff up in his van. What a saint. As we rolled back into Petaluma we saw Jeff, Fil & his friend Debbie having ice cream. Thanks to everyone who came out for this beautiful ride.

I'm 85% sure I'll be there. Will update my RSVP if I can't come. Is there a route sheet to download?

Sorry, I thought you just wanted to preview the ride. I can email you the turn by turn. Otherwise, we will have route sheets handed out before we take off. This is a no drop so you should be ok.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
