Ride to Watch America's Cup

Let's ride and watch America's Cup finals for free!

(Credit goes to Andrew M. for this idea)

Meet at the Ferry Building Clock Tower at 11:00 AM and ride to the Marina Green where we'll valet park our bikes for free.  After heading out to the jetty to view and listen to the bizarre wave organ, we'll claim a viewing spot near the starting line on the Marina Green before the first race begins at 1:10 PM.  Afterwards, we'll ride to Pier 27/28, valet park our bikes for the second race which starts at 2:10, and watch the winner cross the finish line.

It will be a busy day, so I'm allowing plenty of time for riding, bike parking, taking in the scenery and exploring the wave organ prior to the race.  Other meetups will be joining us.

For those interested, after the races, we can explore and have refreshments at America's Cup Park, located at Piers 27/29 or head over the Pier 23.

Bring:  Walking shoes (in addition to or instead of cycling shoes,) water, food, helmet, spare tube

Hi everyone- between another couple of meetup bike groups we're going to have a lot of people to add to the expected crowd. It'll be a nice opportunity to make new friends! I just want to warn you about the high likelihood of getting split up, but the event outlines the general plan and there is a good link to a map so you don't get lost. This isn't so much of a ride as bike transportation from point to point. The green bike lane along the embarcadero will be packed and there are those annoying pedal-taxis! I think it'll be too crowded to use the bike valet parking, so expect to keep your bike with you. Be sure you ride in walking shoes or are ok walking on your cleats. See you tomorrow!
