Canyon to Canyon Ride: Castro Valley-Palomares-Nil­es Canyon-Norris Canyon

This is a loop ride starting at Castro Valley BART, ascending Palomares Rd. to Niles Canyon Rd., stopping in the western town of Old Sunol, complete with telegraph poles along a railroad line still in operation, and swinging back through San Ramon to Norris Canyon, one of the most scenic rural areas sandwiched between two urban areas.  A long descent takes us back to Castro Valley BART.

Details:  41 miles 2000 ft climb 12-14 MPH  We will regroup at the tops of hills and intersections for 10 min.  Planned stops include Sunol and San Ramon and others as needed.


Meet: 9:15 AM, ready to roll at 9:30 AM

Bring: Bottle water, bottle lytes, snacks, tube, helmet, sunscreen!

    Excellent route. Climbing Palomares was done before it got too hot. The scenery was of rural country side which is pretty amazing since the route threaded through Castro Valley, Pleasanton and San Ramon .
