To prepare for the longer rides in May (for instance the Backroad Challenge), I'd like to take a longer ride around Mt. Tam. I picked a very scenic ride with rewarding views to the west and south on the way back along Panoramic Highway. (we might also take Highway 1 from Stinson Beach, depending on who participates.) This ride goes from S.F. via Sausalito to Fairfax on the busy Francis Drake Road, then to Bolinas via a very scenic, rolling country road and then back either via the Panoramic Highway or, making the route a little longer, via Highway 1. The "Long Option" (going into Stinson Beach) is shown here: http://www.mapmyride.com/routes/view/18587636
The goal is not to set any speed records, so please do not feel intimidated. I anticipate the total ride length, if you start with me at the Ferry Building, to be between 50-65 miles. In fact, I am pretty sure we will be doing the "short" version of this ride (that is, about 50 miles round trip, via Panoramic), because the group is larger and we will probably all have different riding levels.
The start location is between the Ferry Building and Pier 1. It should be visible if you click this link: http://g.co/maps/4fz2y. Meet there at 9:30 a.m.
Note, please bring 2 bottles of water for this ride, as opportunities for refills will be limited to the park areas that we pass.
Also bring a spare inner tube in case you get a flat.
I did this ride about 2 years ago with friends, and remember it well.
Thanks, and see you there.
