Post-film analysis with new friends and kindred spirits, possibly over a beer
Only 5? Let’s see: Touch of Evil (or Citizen Kane, or F for Fake… depends on my mood, and I’m always in the mood for Welles), The Discrete Charm of the Bourgeoisie, Annie Hall, Santa Sangre, Star Trek 2: The Wrath of Khan (or The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai… or Repo Man… or The Life Aquatic With Steve Zissou…) I’ve cheated a bit, haven’t I..?
More of a 'Favourite Directors' type, but here goes: Orson Welles, Clint Eastwood, Jeff Bridges, Robert Mitchum, Harry Dean Stanton
Tough call as there's films I like in every genre. Based on larges quantity of real estate in my DVD collection its mainly sci-fi, quirky independent, demented foreign language surrealism, comedy (particularly Woody Allen-esque fare) and westerns
Unrepentent cinephile. Tastes range from high-faluting arthouse to schlocky b-movies.
