Paris, 1962. Stockbroker Jean-Louis is happily married to Suzanne, his socialite wife. When their French maid of many years protests for the last time, she is sacked and replaced by Maria, a young Spanish woman who has come to Paris to visit her Aunt Concepción (and escape Franco). Concepción is also working as a maid along with a small group of Spanish women, who are living in reduced standards on the sixth floor of Jean-Louis’s building. Soon, he starts to take an interest in these hard-working, lively women, particularly Maria… A witty and charming social comedy, the film was a massive hit in France.
