We teach Yang style long form, via the Tung family and B.P. Chan.  We teach the traditional slow set, along with push hands, two-person sets, Qi Gong, etc.  For advanced students, we also offer the fast form, fa jing form and the Hao style long form, as well as weapons and free-style push hands.  This is not westernized, watered-down, shortened or simplified.  It's a good group and we're having a ball.  You're welcome to come and watch or participate -- first class is free.   We meet on Thursdays at 7 pm.

Instructor: David Saltman. He began his studies in Chinese communities in the Far East while working as a consultant to the Malaysian national television network. Returning to the USA, he studied for five years with the legendary master S. T. Ying in the San Francisco Bay Area. Moving to New York, David practiced for more than 25 years with B. P. Chan. David served as Mr. Chan’s teaching assistant for 15 years; after Mr. Chan’s death in 2002, David took over his public classes. He is presently teaching Tai Chi and Qigong at Omega Institute for Holistic Studies, WMA Karate Studio and the Riverdale Tennis Club in New York City; he also teaches privately.

David has studied and taught Yang, Wu, Hao and Tung styles of Tai Chi; Dragon and Yin Fu Pa Kua; Hsing Yi; Push Hands; Eight Brocades; Ten Taoist Exercises; Five Animals Play; I Chuan; Hanging Leg; Shaolin Eight Immortals Sword; Tai Chi Saber, Spear & Staff; Qigong meditation and energy healing. David is presently the only person in New York City teaching the rare art known as Tai Chi Ruler, a complete system of healing, self-defense and meditation which, for more than a thousand years, was taught only to the families of the Chinese Emperors.

Over the past 15 years, David has developed a unique specialty in Tai Chi/Qigong healing and meditation for patients in cardiac rehab units and other hospital-based venues. He is currently creating clinical Tai Chi research-and-practice programs at two New York City teaching hospitals affiliated with the Mt. Sinai School of Medicine.
