Astronomy Live: Rendezvous with ISON
"Comet ISON will come within just 750,000 miles of the Sun’s surface on Thanksgiving Day: Thursday, November 28. That’s over 100 times closer to the Sun than Earth! This close pass to the Sun might cause Comet ISON to break into pieces; but if it stays intact, Comet ISON should become very bright. It might even become bright enough to be seen from Earth even in the daytime, and may go on to have a dazzling showing in December, as you’ll learn in this talk by Joe Rao."
The show begins at 6:30 pm, and you MUST BUY YOUR TICKET IN ADVANCE. RSVP-ing on this page is NOT sufficient. Assume that it will sell out at the door.
MeetUp at Uno's Pizza at the bar area AFTER the event. The show is in the dark, and since it's after hours at the AMNH, there is no logical place to meet beforehand. Uno's is at the corner of Columbus and 81st Street. The bar area is the best place to meet. You get full food service there. It's a great spot to chat about the show afterwards. The bar area is actually quiet and the beer is darn good.
