Solar Bridge to Staten Island -- In conjunction with the International Sun-Day

We will be gathering observers to ride across the harbor from Battery Park in Manhattan over to Staten Island with our Solar telescopes to do some solar observing with fellow dedicated observers on Staten Island via the Staten Island ferry. We expect to be on the 3pm ferry to Staten Island.

The International Sun-Day event is a 24 hour global outreach event which will ride around the globe with the Sun. The events are a creation of Stephen Ramsden and Andy Lunt-owner of Lunt Solar Systems. They will be supporting outreach events from every country on Earth that wants to participate. Free solar glasses to be distributed courtesy of the Charlie Bates Solar Astronomy Project.

Hi I would really like to come but I may have to get on a later ferry. Do you see this going much past 5? Thanks!

I should arrive at 2pm but if I don't -- no worries, I will get there. In fact I would like to try and make the 2:30 ferry. Let me know if this is a problem for those that said yes to going. My friends on the other will have already been set-up since 1:30

for those of you who miss the 3pm ferry (or If you decided to go ahead at the 2:30 ferry -- they run every half hour.)

You should find us at the southern end of the Staten Island Ferry terminal - St. George station towards the street - Richmond Terrace (right across the street from the Staten Island Borough hall.) but not on the street, in between, near the area called ramp E near taxi stand.

I would love to do this meetup with my friend...but thereʻs a 4:45 pm ferry I would like to catch out of Pier 11, would I still be able to catch it...if it technically ends at 5?

Thanks for the reply. I have a birthday dinner at 6 PM so I need to be back in the city early. I look forward to going on Sunday!

You might want to catch the 4pm ferry to get back to the NYC side by 4;25 giving you about 20 minutes to get to pier 11. Are you a quick walker?

The Ferries leave in both directions every half hour on the hour. So you have 2pm 2:30 3pm 3:30 etc., in either direction.
