Amateur Astronomers Association of New York Holiday Party at the Brass Monkey

Come join the Amateur Astronomers Association of New York and the NYC Physics and Astronomy Meetup at our favorite watering hole by the High Line. The Brass Monkey is our favorite hangout after HighLine Stargazing so we are happy to back there to celebrate the Holidays together. It will be a cash bar with no cover charge. We'll have a several tables reserved for us on the second floor.

If you're fascinated by Physics and Astronomy, this is a great chance to come chat with other New Yorkers who share your love of Stars and Space (both between Clusters of Galaxies and between Quarks). Please note my personal observation/prediction that this will be a very friendly crowd and that people who arrive alone will get absorbed into group conversations quite quickly. That said, by all means, please bring as many friends as you can, they will have a great time too.

I hope to see you all.

if you haven't been to the Brass Monkey before here are some suggested routes:

a) take the 14th Street bus west, get off at Washington Street, walk two blocks south, make a right onto Little West 12th and walk 1/2 a block west.

b) take a train to 14th Street and 8th Avenue, walk two blocks west on 14th Street, past Ninth Avenue to Washington Street, make a left and

walk two blocks south, make a right onto Little West 12th and walk 1/2 a block west.

We have three great events this week, starting Tuesday night with a Holiday Party at Brass Monkey in the West Village, which will be a great chance to mingle & make new friends. Then, Thursday night we have a ticketed event at the Hayden Planetarium (for tickets: immediately followed by a Winter Solstice Telescope Party in the Rose Garden featuring stellar observing with Amateur Astronomy Association of New York (AAA) members pointing their 'scopes at the sky for attendees enjoyment & education (as always). Friday night, to celebrate the Winter Solstice, we have another observing party, a free one at gorgeous Belvedere Castle in Central Park. All of these events are hosted by AAA.

If you want to get AAA's monthly journal on Astronomy, "Eyepiece" & support AAA's sponsorship of free Astronomy Lectures at AMNH as well as free Star Parties and Solar Observing all over town, please go to and join.
