Winter Solstice Star Party at Belvedere Castle, Central Park

Come to Belvedere Castle, Friday, December 21, for this year's Winter Solstice Stargazing in Central Park. This event is free and open to the public.

Members of the Amateur Astronomers Association of New York have been invited to bring their telescopes to show the Stars the Night Sky to the general public. Enter the park from Central Park West at 81st Street or East 79th Street and walk along the 79th Street transverse Road. The views from this gorgeous and inspiring Victorian Castle are lovely... so bundle up and come start your Holiday weekend with us!

Let's reschedule it, or have another one weather permits!

Hi All, I apologize for the confusion with last night's event cancellation and for the fact that cancellation was only announced on and not here. Going forward, our Meetup's event cancellations will be posted on the NYC Physics and Astronomy Meetup webpage.

    Hi i I can't find the location
I'm in the park now...I missed the evening . Can't see in the dark. Perhaps we should meet outside the museum or park before.

I'm here but no ones here. How do I find you

    Hmm. This website:
now says that although there is 100% chance of rain during the day on Friday, on Friday night, the chance of precipitation is only thirty percent. Tomorrow Night
    37 °F
    Chance of Rain
    30% chance of precipitation

Lets hope for clear skies for our final party and observing session of 2012. I hope to see you there at this great venue with great people. If the weather is questionable, please check before the event to check for possible weather related cancellation.

      Hi Z.J.,

Sorry you won't be able to make it. If you would be comfortable, I believe our meetup members would love to hear more about your town's celebration of the Winter Solstice. Please join us for observing in the spring and for our Friday lecture series.
