Summer is almost over, Labor Day weekend is here. It would be nice to spend a night in the nature and do some hiking. Let's do a Sunday - Monday overnight in the Catskills.

This is an extremely difficult hike, read below.

We will be leaving NYC on Sunday, September 1, at around 8 a.m. Cars will meet in New Paltz around 9:30 a.m. (It takes more than 1.5 hours to drive there from NYC.) Next we drive together to the trailhead and start our hike on the Peekamoose-Table trail. We will climb steadily from 1,100 ft above the sea level for about 4 miles until we reach the summit of Peekamose Mountain at 3,843 ft. Then we'll go a little down and up and after a mile we'll reach the summit of Table Mountain at 3,847 ft. Thereafter we'll descent to the lean-to, which is about 0.5 miles. We'll pitch out tents, cook some food, and enjoy the evening.

On Sunday, after breakfast, we'll continue first down till we hit the Phoenicia-East Branch Trail (2,300 ft) and then up to Curtis Monument (3,100 ft) and down to the Slide Mountain parking lot. There we'll have a car, we regroup, and head back to NYC.

This is an extremely difficult hike for experience hikers only, because of the elevation gain we'll have to do on a short distance. The total distance hiked will be 5.5 miles the first day and 6.0 miles the second day. The cumulative elevation gain will be about 3,100 ft the first day and 2,900 ft the second day.

Everyone is responsible for their own gear and food. Don't forget it may rain, or it can be super hot. If you have a question, feel free to e-mail me.

Please sign up on the waiting list. As we get more cars for carpool, I'll open more spots.

Thanks Milos to organize this trip! I had a great time. Saturday was nice blue sky day (only my imagination). Let's do more often.

It was challenging... extremely... and weather was interesting... but I truly believe our people have special power to make things perfect in the end (including unexpected delay later...sorry guys). Thanks again Milos for planning and executing this wonderful trip, and I'm also looking forward to not so extremely challenging ones.

"Extremely difficult" is described in the meetup description - you'll have to climb 3,100 feet elevation gain with a heavy backpack over a few hours. For someone in a good shape, no significant experience needed. For those who mostly hike in the Central Park this may be a killer.

Hi everyone! As a follow-up to Milos's e-mail, I updated the spreadsheet with details of the "potential" NYC car. Have a look. See everyone soon!

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
