Winter Overnight 2012 - Let's Hit the Trail!

OVERVIEW

We keep talking about doing more winter trips, so here we go . . . This will be a true COLD (lows in the teens) weather overnight trip and is appropriate for experienced backcountry campers who have the fitness, winter gear and know-how to overnight in mountainous bear country. Everyone will be expected to have all necessary winter gear and food. This is particularly a great opportunity for new members to test their gear and experience, while becoming familiar with BLAZE>>. Please note that you will need to first join the wait-list - attendance will be limited to those who have the necessary experience and gear (as evaluated by the organizer) to ensure the safety of the entire group.

ITINERARY

We will leave the city by 8 am on Saturday morning and plan to hit the trail head by 11 am. The hike on Saturday will be about four hours long, getting us to camp by late afternoon and allowing for set up before sunset.  On Sunday, we'll again plan to be on the trail by 9:30 and be done by around 3 pm.  We'll plan to do an early dinner at a local restaurant, and for those interested, we will be stopping by King Sauna (a Korean spa) in NJ on the way back - a great way to wind down and relax after the long weekend.

LOCATION

Bear Mountain State Park

COST

Minimal - $15 per person to your driver to cover the cost of gas/tolls, plus the cost of dinner Sunday, and $30 for admission to the spa (for those interested).

REI is running a pretty good sale on Sleeping bags. Alex recommended the Kelty light year +20 to me and I love it. thought I'd share.

We tried going but never got answer back from organizer. I am posting this here to verify if you received a message from me since the email address link to you did not seem to work.

As always, awesome company. Glad that we had some new faces, and brought back some existing members that hadn't been around in a while. Weather was amazing, and we had just enough snow to legitimately make this a winter trip. Thanks for a great time guys.
