A Weekend of Canoeing in Delaware Water Gap

  • September 15, 2012 · 8:00 AM

The summer is almost over, but we still have a few warm days left. For the last weekend of this summer Blaze>> is organizing an overnight canoeing trip to Delaware Water Gap.

The plan is to leave NYC on Saturday, September 15 in the morning and drive to Milford, PA. There we would rent canoes and paddle down the river to Kittatinny access point by I-80, about 34 miles in total. We would camp overnight in one of the campgrounds along the river. Returning back to NYC around 8 p.m. on Sunday.

Everyone who wants to participate in this trip has to be a good swimmer. In addition, we need at least 50% of people who have some experience in canoeing (people who know how to stir). The maximum number of participants is 8-12. Please sign up on the waiting list and I will move you to the yes column once we get more drivers signed up and you pay a deposit. (I will send instructions via e-mail by Sept. 7.)

As to what you need for this trip: clothes (swim trunks, camp clothes, rain jacket, hat, sunglasses), dry bag(s) to keep your stuff dry in case you get capsized, (shared) tent, sleeping bag, sleeping mat, toiletries, sunscreen, two lunches, one breakfast, one dinner, some snacks, some drinks, stove, utensils, water filter. More details will be e-mailed before the trip.

Costs: We need to rent canoes and pay the transportation. We will also need to pay gas and toll to the drivers. Estimated costs are $100-$120 per person.

If you have any questions, post them or e-mail me.

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
