What: EXPLORERS CLUB LECTURE - CAVES AND RIVERS OF YUCATAN
When: October 27,[masked]:00 PM
Where: Click the link below to find out!
Meetup Description: This is a lecture (see below) at the The Explorers Club - a cool throwback to men's clubs from the 19th century. Complete with a stuffed polar bear and artifacts from polar expeditions. You never know when you are going to get inspired for the next adventure.
It would be great to see you there but this is a stuffy and small venue, so it isn't appropriate to meet as large group. I am just treating this as an FYI and "independent" MeetUp.
6:00 PM Ticket Sales
6:30 PM Reception (wine and cheese served)
7:00 PM Lecture
Reservations are suggested on a first-come, first-served basis. Please call[masked] or email [address removed].
Tickets are $20
The Underground Rivers and Cenotes of Mexico's Yucatan Peninsula" by Cave Diver and Conservationist, Sam Meacham
Cave diver and conservationist Sam Meacham has spent more than a decade coordinating underwater expeditions to survey the Yucatan Peninsula's Sistema Ox Bel Ha, now ranked the eighth longest cave system on Earth. Tonight, Sam will give a slide presentation on the Yucatan's underwater cave systems, including Ox Bel Ha, and will show a segment he helped film for the BBC documentary Planet Earth: Episode 4, Caves. Come learn about the rich cultural and natural history of the Yucatan's cenotes and underground rivers and how the latest technology is used to find and map them. Find out about the conservation work of CINDAQ A.C., a Mexico-based nonprofit organization dedicated to protecting the freshwater resources of Quintana Roo.
