Top 10 Web App Security Threats

Web security is regularly in the news. Just in the last few months we've heard about major security breaches from the likes of Target, Neiman Marcus, and just last week Kickstarter, among many others. Want to avoid making headlines like those? This month's meetup should help.

Thanks very much to CabForward, who will be sponsoring this month's meetup and providing pizza and drinks for the group! CabForward is an Austin web and mobile development company specializing in rugged design, agile development and continuous delivery.

Ben Broussard will be schooling us on web app security, outlining the OWASP Top 10 security threats that each of us, as working web programmers, face every single day. He'll cover topics like injection (SQL and otherwise), XSS and CSRF, and common vulnerabilities that programmers often create when building apps.  If you build anything that lives on the web, you will most definitely want to hear what Ben has to say!

Join us afterwards a block over at Buffalo Billiards for a beer and follow up discussion. If your company is interested in sponsoring future Bleeding Edge meetups, or if you would like to volunteer to speak, please contact me!

About Ben

Ben Broussard started as a web developer (python, php, javascript, etc.), but got too interested in the security aspects of what he was making, so for the last 5 years he has switched to testing web apps. He has spoken at national conferences such as LASCON and Innotech, as well as several security, developer, and tech groups. Additionally, he runs Hot Lava Obstacle Course with his wife and wants to make a cheap, USB ultrasound device device to look at his organs (who doesn't).
