Most people believe that black technologists are rare. I chose to believe otherwise.
Why we exist:
This meetup exists because I was damn tired of being the only black person at other tech meetups. I knew I couldn't be the only computer nerd of color in New York, so I started this group to find others like me.
Here's what you need to know:
We aim to be a network of developers in NYC interested in becoming better, learning from each other and networking. We mix hardcore computer science with start-up culture, to create an environment of learning.
Developers of all skill levels are welcome, from experienced hardcore, neckbearded hackers, to n00bs. If you want to be awesome, I hope you can find yourself at home here.
Other awesome meetups:
Blacks in Tech run by the very awesome Mike Street. Mike has grown an awesome network for the business side of tech start-ups and social media. We focus more on programming and technical skills. I attend it.
Hack and Tell: Simply put, a meetup for crazy hacks. This is my second favorite group (after the Black Techies, of course).
