Hey - what is it that we do at meetups

There was a good email sent about what we actually talk about at blogger meetups - the concern being that we just chug beer and if so - then its lost its way, its purpose.

I commented that it *had* lost its way. That it is very difficult getting bloggers together. We're social on the Web, but many of us are private in the flesh.

This will be the second meetup I've helped organize since taking back responsibilities over the group.

The first meetup, yes, some of us had drinks. But some did not. Some of us ate - some of us did not.

What did happen amongst all of us was a robust discussion about blogging, politics, journalism and social media as a whole. It was heated, passionate, and informative. The bar was just a setting.

But since this will be the second, and the second is again at a bar, let me stress bars will not be the end all be all of this - at least if I have the energy to build meetups across the city that run simultaneously. And not just at bars - but at libraries - halls - friends houses - wherever we can gather and connect.

This group is what we make out of it. If you can help as a co-organizer and drive additional events - please let me know. Philly is a blogging town. 1 meetup every couple months is a missed opportunity by all.

I know it is short notice, but I hope I see you next Tuesday.

Go Phillies!
