Tarr Ridge Extravaganza Hike - Red River Gorge

Hike Description: We will hike the Tarr Ridge Extravaganza Trail and several short side trails for a total of approximately 4 miles. We will visit 3 very impressive overlooks on mostly ridge top hiking. This hike would be an easy difficulty, but there is a bit of tree hopping, bramble picking and rock scrambling.

GPS track of the hike:

From the I-64/I-75 southern split, drive east on I[masked] mi, exit 98 Combs Mountain Parkway; drive 32 mi to exit 33, Hwy 15 (Slade); from exit go left (see Shell station just to R of the intersection), then immediate left (west), follow Hwy 11/15, 1.5 mi; turn R onto Route 77. Go 5.3 miles (thru the Nada Tunnel) to the intersection with Hwy 715. Turn L (north) staying on 77 for 1.5 miles. Climb steeply and level off at the top of the hill, pull off on R at 2 large Forest Service signs. The hike will begin at 10:00AM. The total distance from the 64/75 split is 60 miles, or approx 1:05.

Anyone having problems finding their way can call my cell phone at 859 - 806 - 4504 the AM of the hike.

FYI, yesterday I mentioned to some folks the Oruxmaps app for Android devices that allows offline storage of maps and free topo maps of the RRG; here is the link:

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
