Rails: Beyond the Hype

We have gotten some great talks about many cool aspects of Rails. From time to time, it is good to take a step back and welcome new members with some good, old fashioned evangelizing. Mike Subelsky, fresh off speaking at RailsConf 2009, will do just that. Mike will be prototyping a simple Rails app. Along the way, he will point out how Rails brings joy to the development process and give pointers for those just getting started. Have something else that you'd like discussed?
Let Mike know! About the presenter:

Nice overview of a RoR, a big topic.

As a newbie with RoR I was very happy to get a great overview that helped me to understand it's structure and inner workings. I have read numerous overviews and guides to get me started and this talk helped to gel everything together.

In the future I hope to have more experience so I can better understand the questions at hand and possibly contribute.

Also, I really like the idea of a pair-programming hackfest. I would like further information on that, particularly if newbies would be welcome or maybe there could be a way to get us more involved on hands on projects.

As someone who has played around with Rails a bit, I found this meeting very helpful. I appreciated the mind map style of the presentation as well as the ability to ask questions and get feedback from the group in addition to the presenter.

Really helpful because Mike talked about the framework and I'm trying to compare this to another framework. I also met some really nice folks who I hope to see at the next meetup.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
