Nick Gauthier on Grease your Suite: Tips & Tricks for Faster Testing

This location is shown only to members

PLEASE NOTE THE SNOW POSTPONED DATE!!!

Why should your test suite be fast? How can you make it faster? We'll explore the concept of continuous integration while learning a bunch of ways to speed up your tests. We'll start with easy and cheap solutions that can give you a quick boost, plus we'll talk about multi-core setups, distributed systems, and even touch on some cloud computing.

About the presenter: Nick Gauthier is a developer and technical lead at SmartLogic Solutions. Beyond ruby on rails development he is an avid Ubuntu user and loves playing with operating systems and tweaking his hardware. He's never stopped scratching that performance itch, including caching, multi-threading, performance analysis, and solid state drives.

Prizes! We will be giving away a prize to the person who can guess how fast we run our test suite. So when you come in for the meeting we'll have a place for you to write your guess.

I promise you, you won't believe how fast we run our tests. It's absolutely ridiculous. And have the things we do don't even change the code :-)
