Cooking Lesson at someone's house

  • Needs a date

  • Needs a location

  • One of our members wrote: How about a cooking lesson at someone's house? Like a big or traditional Asian dish? If no one already knows how to make it we could all contribute necessary ingredients along with the instructions to make it. I would love to help and maybe organize this event. I have not had the opportunity to attend any events as of yet due to my schedule and the fact that I live in PA. However I check the events often to stay informed of any events that I could possibly attend. I look forward to meeting you and more of the members of this group soon! Sincerely, Iolani Does anyone have a place large enough to host such an event? Iolani, are you willing to host? then are members willing to drive to PA? If someone will set a Place, date and time, then we have a meetup! (ok we still have to decide on a dish, the possibilities are enormous!) (Unfortunately my place is way too small, otherwise I'd offer-rose)

If I can choose date, and the location will be at my house and the cooking is Japanese cooking, I can host one sometime in September. ( I already host other meetup this month and I will be in Japan for the most of the time in August.) If this sounds good enough, let me know what type of dish you guys want to do. Warning, no sushi, unless you are asking for gomoku-sushi which does not require expensive sashimi.

I do have to charge for ingrediant. I would like to keep it up to $10 per person.

One more thing, reasonable limit will be up to 10 people, including by-standers.

I know how to make a few korean dishes, but not at my place. We could always rent out a space like Centennial park, one of their pavilions

I'm not a great cook but I'm interested esp if the location, time, and day are convenient.

Hey! Just checking in to see if you are finalizing a space and chef for the cooking event. I have two people, one Korean and One Chinese, who would love to do a cooking demo and you can use my home if you like. I have a large space outside for picnic like setting and table top burners to use so everyone can follow along. Let me know if interested and will let you know what cost may be per person to cover groceries.

@Robert- thanks for offering. Indian food can be tough to make. I'm impressed.

How is parking by your building on Saturdays and Sundays?

Robert, sounds good! Almost any saturday early afternoon would be good for me. I could bring a couple movie voices too. Thanks for volunteering the space!

I have access to a large "community room" at my apartment building in the Fells Point / Canton area. It has a descent sized kitchen, a restroom, a big screen TV, a great view of the water, and can hold about 50 people. If anyone would be interested just let me know. I would have to book the date. BTW - I'm not too bad at cooking Indian food :-)

I love the idea! Joe, regarding hot pot maybe we can also try Zhong Shang sometime as a group?

Sorry I added commentary to her original email in the parenthesis.
If you would like to host a hot pot movie night, then I say go for it! Hot Pot is still cooking and some of us might learn a thing or two!

This post is a little confusing. Did Iolani suggest this? I thought Rose lives in Bel Air. I wouldn't mind hosting at my place but the kitchen is very narrow. A hot pot and movie night would be feasible though.
