WikiWeb Sharing Page – Dan Martens, FTW

Creating a Tag Cloud – James Fleming

Satellite positions on a d3 Mercator plot – Josh Fisher

Anyone else who would like to present? Let Jonathan know.

Location: Advertising.com on the Under Armor campus

Advertising.com has offered their space to us for our meetups, it's located in the Ivory Building.

The Ivory building is at the end of Haubert St in Locust Point. The area is served by the Charm City Circulator "Banner Route", as well as the MTA #1 bus. You can also take the water taxi over from Fells Point (landing #8) to landing #10. Note that the water taxi service ends at 7pm, and the Circulator ends at 8pm prior to May 1.

If you cycle to the meetup, feel free to bring your bike inside, or you can lock up on one of the racks just outside the building.

Sandwiches from Jimmy John's! Beverages include water, juice, tea and sometimes beer.

If you drive, park in one of the Green or Purple areas:

Green is designated visitor spaces, they are also marked "visitor" on the pavement. Do not park in 'reserved' or 'handicap' (unless you have a permit). Purple is the Under Armor employee lot, which is available for us to use as well. Interactive Google Map

The Blue marker is the entrance to the Advertising.com meeting space on Haubert St.

The Under Armor campus is generally a well lit and secure area. If you'd feel more comfortable with a security escort to or from your car, call Wolf Professional Security. Free escorts are available from 5pm-11pm by calling[masked]-5266.

Special Needs

We try to always have some vegetarian options available. Fruit and nuts are also available, ask Paris where the snacks are. If you need to refrigerate something, the white fridge in the back of the room is available.

If you have any other special needs, email the organizers. We'll do our best to accomodate you!

Dunno if cubism.js was mentioned last night, but I've been working on a dashboard project that uses it to highlight hotspots across fleets of systems.

Excellent demos. Glad to see real code in addition to people talking about stuff.

Great meetup. Can't wait to play with D3. It's always cool to see what other people are doing in the programming world.

That was a great talk. I really enjoyed it. In fact, I was so intrigued, I went home and started using it.

what you can learn in an hour at these meetups would take a lot longer at home on your own. Some words of wisdom only come from experience.. why waste it?

d3.js is an amazing new JS framework for those of us who work with complex data and are looking for ways understand/explain the data with a good visual presentation.

Thanks to the Advertising.com, and Jonathan, Shea and others for sponsoring and putting together such a valuable set of talks tonight!

I've been playing w/D3 and look forward to learning more and sharing what I've done.

Sure. I'll be happy to. It could certainly fit into 2 minutes - it's a rather trivial application: creating a Tag Cloud, but I'll be happy to show it.

      Cool, you're on the list!

Looking forward to the presentation. Can provide a demo of a d3 Mercator plot that plots satellite positions based on ephemeris data if you have the space/time.

If you haven't already gone through the D3 tutorial at http://www.dashingd3js.com/ I highly recommend it.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
