Wednesday Game Night

  • Jun 26, 2013 · 7:00 PM
  • This location is shown only to members

Our Wednesday game night. We'll play various geeky board and card games. All attendees are welcome to bring games of their own, and we'll all decide what to play. If enough people are there to warrant it, we can split into two or more groups.

- If more than 11 people show up, we will have problems with seating. If anyone can bring their own chair in that case, it would be appreciated.

- As always, one or more beagles may be in the house, so plan accordingly if you are allergic.

- While some refreshments MAY be on hand, for the most part, I ask people to bring stuff that they'd be willing to share. There's no requirement for this, but chipping in is always appreciated.

Get Whack-a-Catgirl too, I want to play that (I have Win, Lose or Banana as well...long game though, we'd have to set aside a whole game night to knock it out).

Oh, but I'd like to try Kings of Air and Steam first, an actual board game I picked up over the weekend at CSI.

I'll play. I've been in the mood for a pickup and deliver game.

I received two new games today that I Kickstarted! (they both fall into the category of "party" game)

    - Fox and Chicken: Another version of Werewolf/Mafia, that is much more tongue in cheek. It's Foxes (Werewolves) vs. Chickens (Villagers), in a battle to the death. It comes with many amusing bonus roles, thanks to the campaign, including ones based on Star Wars, Star Trek, Dr. Who, and Cthulhu.

    - Channel A: With a framework very similar to Cards Against Humanity, players takes on the role of anime producers, trying to come up with a title for the next big hit show on the all-anime channel, Channel A. String together up to 4 title cards and come up with the best name (i.e. Love Ninja Z and Fighter Fighting Fight X).

    - Along with Channel A, as bonus rewards, were two games from the same company that have already been released and have earned a notorious reputation: Flower Fall and We Didn't Playtest This At All.

I've seen Channel A demo'd. The only thing it has in common with Cards is that there's a judge each round. It's a story telling game. On your turn you play cards and then have to invent a story with them and tell it to the judge. Then judge picks the best story.
