One-year Anniversary and Marathon Gaming for Charity

Board Game Brawl was founded on November 4, 2012. In honor of that, I'm dedicating this particular Saturday, November 2, to a special marathon gaming event, as part of a nationwide charity drive called Extra Life.

Teams who sign up with Extra Life take part in 24-hour gaming marathons (actually, it's 25 because of the time change!), and try to raise money from family and friends for the Children's Miracle Network and the hospitals it supports. Team BGB's goal is only $200, and I'm sure we can reach that, all while gaming our brains out!

Don't worry! If you're not feeling up to gaming for 24 hours straight , you can still stop by this meetup and game with us for a bit. And you can help us out by joining our team, making a small donation, and getting your friends and family to join and donate as well! (ALL proceeds go directly to a local children's hospital supported by CMN) We also need plenty of snacks to keep us alive for a full day of gaming. =)

Another important note: depending on the amount of interest, the venue might change, so stay tuned.

Fantastic event! We broke our old attendance record with a whopping seventeen people overall for the day! Humongous thank you to everyone who showed up and gamed with us, and for all the awesome snacks everyone brought. Special thanks also to the hardcore gamers who managed to tough it out for over ten hours with us. My three MVPs would have to be Robbie and Adam, who managed to hang in there for over 24 hours with me, and JT who came close at about 23 hours. Much obliged to everyone, and let's do it again next year!

MARATHON RUNNERS NEED FOOD. And we are no different! Kim has graciously offered to bring some baked ziti for everyone on Saturday, and it would be really great if everyone else could pitch in some snacks and drinks. Keep us alive, and our zombification at bay!

Many games have been suggested, and believe it or not we may not have time for all of them! Even so, if you have a game you're dying to play, there's no better time. Here are some of the longer games that have been suggested:

    - A Game of Thrones: The Board Game
    - Twilight Imperium
    - Risk Legacy
    - Starcraft
    - A super secret prototype game we're playtesting for Plaid Hat Games!

So, uh, 2 games of Battlestar, and we'll still have time left over for a game of Love Letter. Nice!

I'm totally in. I've been wanting to come to a game night but none have worked with my schedule. but a 24 hour thing, I can probably work in a few hours. I'd be happy to bring some games. King of Tokyo, RoboRally, Carcassone, Fluxx, Dominion (basic cards)....

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
