Board Games in Eagan

Trying again for south of the river. The Apple Valley library room was booked, but I was able to get the larger room at the Eagan branch, so there should be plenty of room for everyone!

Enjoyable session....my first! Very impressive to have so many turn up. Reminded me of my family reunions. Good game variety...lots of fun. Looking forward to the next one that I can attend! Thanks, Kristi, for organizing/hosting. Art K.

Good to see you, Arthur! I wish you could have stayed. Some folks were playing scrabble later. Maybe next time. :)

I threw a bunch of games in my car. I can't remember them all. Some lighter Euros: Finca, Garden Dice, My Happy Farm, Alea Iaca Est, Love Letter. A couple party games: Telestrations, Dixit. I'll try to remember to add Skulls and Roses. I'm also bringing Crosscrib which is a variant on cribbage that can be played with two or four people. There might be a couple more in there, but I don't remember. Oh wait, I think I still have Puerto Rico in the trunk.

I have a question, and a question. The first one is that I've been hearing the word euro game on this meetup and others. What is/are those? Other than a few basic: Trivial, Apples to Apples, and such, my board game playing is mostly from my childhood. I think I'm going to love being able to play.

The other question. I won't be able to be there until the afternoon, possibly as late as 1:00. I have a ton of games-when my daughter was younger she got a game every Christmas and Birthday until her very late teens, but we rarely played-just the two of us. When we finally got the nieces and nephews to play it was Trivial Pursuit and Apples to Apples. Should I bring games, or hold off this time-since I will be later?

You could always throw a couple games in the car, and decide later whether or not to bring them in.

Euros are a newer style of game that are a bit more nuanced/balanced/cooperative/less luck based and less punishing than many old style American games. In other words, they're awesomely fun! I'm more than willing to teach anything I bring!

I really want to go but I don't get off work until 2:30 p.m. so I may show up late to try and catch the last round of games.

    • Geri Dodge

It sounds like there are several of us who won't be there til close to that time. I hope you show up.

Turns out I have to work right in the middle of the day (ugh!). If I come by around 2:30, will anyone still be around? I'll probably stop by in any case (its on my way home from work).

I think I found a home away from home! Holidays = Boardgames is a lost tradition for me and this could be a good substitute.
