Thursday Night Gamers: Open Gaming at Davanni's - Richfield

It's another Thursday night game meetup! As the official Event Organizer, I am now able to post this much earlier! Important info: Please bring your favorites, & we'll play what we can, majority will decide what gets played. Teenagers to adults are welcome. The room is reserved from 4:00pm to store close (10:30pm). I will arrive around 5:30 as I like to get some exercise in beforehand, but feel free to introduce yourself & start playing. The room is free, but Davanni's has requested we buy at least $5 per person, which I think, makes this a great deal. Any questions, suggestions, jokes, comments, or otherwise relevant material can be posted in the comments.

Will anyone be there at 4? I'm planning on arriving at that time, but if no one else is arriving until 5:30 then I'll kill sometime elsewhere until then.

So this kind of begs the question just what the definition of a "Eurogame" is. For me a Eurogame is any game (board, card or otherwise) which favors skill over luck. But I suspect there is a more specific definition that others use.

I think Susan is more hitting toward games that are based on worker placement and strategic allocation for investment and currency over just luck, fun, and personal trait based games.

All that I know is that before I joined the Twin Cities Board Game Meet-Up Group I thought games were such things as Monopoly, Scattegories, Yahtzee - the games that perhaps most people grew up with - then I found out that there are definately more non-Euro games that are not the basic household games (it broadened my knowledge) - but, I had never heard of Euro Games - I played one Euro Game and did not enjoy it - I have heard other people say that a Euro game takes a lot more concentration and a lot less socialization time and I go out to Meet-Up Groups for at least half and half - if someone could show me a fairly easy Euro game to learn and still socialize and not have to be so intense I would like to learn it as I am open to learning and trying anything at least one time. Hope that everyone has a fun night on Thursday night and looking forward myself to Friday night.

so it sounds like a 5:30 arrival time works best - rich & i both like games that last 1 hour or less & enjoy learning new games...

Could you please distinguish between when a game meet-up is for ALL games or just Euro games. It makes me wonder, even though I have been with The Twin Cities Game Meet-Up Group for a little over a year and I am pretty sure that this is for Euro Game people. But, if new people look at the web site they would probably wonder what kind of games are being played at the different Game Meet-Ups. Thank you

Susan, great suggestion. Most of our events are for all ages, all skill levels, all various games unless posted in the description. It helps introduce games of other genres to everyone. I thank everyone who helps teach a new game to someone else!!!!

Sorry, I was asking if it was Euro or not, but I can't make it this Thursday - another Thursday (if there is one). Thank you for answering me.

It's OPEN to all types of games. Personally, I am not a huge Euro game player, but on occasion some Euro games crop up that I like. This is exactly as stated, open to all different types of games, majority decides what gets played. Hope that helps!
