The Gwinnett Boardgame Society Monthly Meetup

This is a chance for game lovers to get together for some fun and games.

There will be a number of games available for play, as well as friendly folks who can help with the rules. We mostly play European games like Power Grid, Carcassonne and Ticket to Ride. If you are not familiar with these games, they tend to run from 30 to 90 minutes and are different from most of the boardgames we all grew up with. Players are generally not eliminated from the game, so everybody is in it the whole time. They also usually involve the accumulation of victory points, so you generally are not having to take directly from other players to advance yourself. The games are also very sociable and a lot of fun.

All ages welcome but children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult.

We generally meet the first and third Sundays (1pm-6pm) of each month. We are a very informal group that gets into the games we play, so don't be afraid to introduce yourself!

I attended this meetup for the first time yesterday. I had a good time playing a couple of games I've never played before. Definitely will try to come to the first January meeting.

Any games highly likely to be played so I can brush up on the rules?

That's a nice collection, Ahmed. We don't usually plan which games we play beforehand. Most of us bring a few that we like and then we break into groups based on who wants to play what. There's always at least one person who is new to most games we play, so we are used to explaining, or at least brushing up on the rules before playing.

Looks like you're covering all of the bases. I'm working Sunday, but hopefully I'll still get in a game or two.
