The Gwinnett Boardgame Society Meetup at The Tower Game Center

This is a chance for game lovers to get together for some fun and games.

There will be a number of games available for play, as well as friendly folks who can help with the rules. We play a wide variety of board and card games; shorter, longer, casual, strategic, cooperative, and competetive.

Many of the games we enjoy are European games like Power Grid, Carcassonne, Agricola, and Ticket to Ride.  If you are not familiar with these games, they tend to run from 30 to 90 minutes and are different from most of the boardgames we all grew up with. Players are generally not eliminated from the game, so everybody is engaged for the entire game. They also usually involve the accumulation of victory points, so you generally are not having to take directly from other players to advance yourself. The games are also very sociable and a lot of fun.

We also play more thematic games like Last Night on Earth, Sentinels of the Multiverse, Battlestar Galactica, and King of Tokyo. These games usually have more direct conflict and player elimination which tends to generate a lot of excitement around the table. These games can be short and sweet and finish in less than 30 minutes, or they can be epic slugfests that deliver hours of entertainment.

All ages welcome but children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult.

We generally meet the first and third Sundays (1pm-6pm) of each month. We are a very informal group that gets into the games we play, so don't be afraid to introduce yourself!

Five days of boardgaming fun! Open gaming with hundreds of games available for play as well as friendly folks to help teach the rules. There will be tournaments with great prizes including a Ticket to Ride Qualifier. The winner goes to the North American Championship at GenCon in August and the top two get an all-expense paid trip to Paris for the world championship! Plus card games, roleplaying games and there's always space for miniatures. There is also a fantastic flea market on Sunday.

    Hope to see you there!

The Sunday hours at the Tower are 1 - 8 pm. That's enough time for one game of Eclipse, one game of Agricola, one game of Thunderstone, and a couple of games of Coup! (With pizza rolls and a buffalo chicken quesadilla thrown in to boot)

I'd like to get a game I kick-started to the table, City Council. It's a semi-coop with subtle negotiation. I've solo-ed through half of a 3-player game and have the gist of it, but it will still be a learning game.
