Strategy Games at Yahoo!

This is a cross-post from  You may want to join the Yahoo group to keep up on the latest announcements.

Board gaming group that meets at Yahoo! cafeteria (in Sunnyvale, CA) Mondays at 6:30pm. Games played tend to be German-style strategy games.

Take 101 to Mathilda Ave North in Sunnyvale. Go North on Mathilda for around 1.5 miles. Make a left on First Ave/Bordeaux street, and make an immediate right into the Yahoo campus (at 701 First Ave). Find a parking space (you can park across the street if there's no room) and knock on the door of Building C -- it's glass so people can see you and let you in. Make your way to the cafeteria seating area. You may arrive any time you wish, as there are usually plenty of games being played until 10pm, but your chance of getting into a game increases greatly if you arrive between 6:15-7pm.

Fountain drinks are free. Before 8pm, except on holidays, the coffee bar is open. It has free coffee, and might have some food if they haven't sold out, such as a cold salad or a wrap.  Cafeteria food is for Yahoo employees only.

Please, remember we are guests.  Be polite, and clean up after yourself.

Variety is king, but recently we have seen a lot of Battlestar Galactica, Through the Ages, 18xx, Tzolkin, Hansa Teutonica, Merchant of Venus, Netrunner.

Lots of strategy games and it varies week to week but my last couple time I either played or saw played Battlestar Galactica, House on the Hill, Through the Ages, Tzolken, Eclipse, Pandemic, amongst others. There are usually 20 plus people with newcomers all the time. I drive up from San Jose so can't get there super early but the good news is despite the 6:30 start time, good numbers of folks have been getting there at 7 or later lately so there are always new flights of games starting.

    Hi David,
What games are typically played? I've been tempted to try and come but Monday nights aren't the easiest for me.

    Hi, Robyn,
While there are no explicit age restrictions at Yahoo, most of the players are 30-60 years old. Your son may have difficulty finding a group willing to play with him. It is a fairly competitive group.
