What is your favorite boardgame?

Tough one. I loved Shogun back in the day (before it was Samurai Swords, and then Ikusa), and Axis and Allies, though I haven't played a ton of war games of late. I like abstract strategy games like Quarto or Chess. I like cooperative games like Fire Rescue (think a more intimately staged version of Pandemic). I like some of the big, obvious euro-style games like Carcassonne or Catan, and have been enjoying Clever Mojo's Sunrise City. But right now, probably my favorite game is either Dominion (the original) or a recent release called Zong Shi, both of which play really, really well, and are a ton of fun to look at. All of that may change in a few weeks when my copy of Lyssan gets here, though, as I am really, really looking forward to that game.

Hi, I'm a father of three and a longtime analog and video gamer. I also teach courses on media and communication (including games) and am a usability researcher, which is basically a less enjoyable form of playtesting.
