One Shot RPG Night

If you've ever wondered about table top role playing games but haven't had the time to commit to a full campaign or to read all those core rule books, this is the game night for you! Or if you've never heard of these games and just want to know more.

There will be 2 one shot games run to accommodate all the players and games will be determined at the meetup. It would be very helpful for the game play to have everyone available to start at the same time and be able to stay for the entire game which could be 4+ hours depending on how everyone plays. The start time says 4 for anyone wanting to come by and mingle before hand, but we would like to have games starting right around 5.

Check out this example of Table Top's Fiasco play through

This will be just like any other game night, the hosts will provide a few snacks but feel free to bring your own or something to share with the group.

This is going to be formatted more towards new players, so if you are a seasoned RPG'er you are still welcome to come but know that this might be a very slow pace for you (don't worry, we are still working on getting full campaigns going :-) )

Please don't hesitate to ask any questions!

Is there a plan for food? Should we just bring munchies like usual, or do people want to order something for delivery (pizza, Jimmy John's, etc)?

I was going to bring cheese and crackers. Pizza would be cool too.

Folks who are on the RSVP list please make very sure you are actually going to attend as we have a lot of folks on the waitlist who aren't going to be able to come.

It seems as though the wait list might become as long as the RSVP list. It's great to see so many people interested! If anyone wants to volunteer to run a one shot game that day please message me and I can open up more spots. The only requirement is that it has to be a one shot game that can be finished during this event and geared towards people who may not have ever played RPG's before. This should be an intro type session so slower game play is expected. If you don't have any games but want to still run one, just ask and we can try to find one for you that one of us already has.

Can't wait to see everyone there!

This is really too bad. I was hoping someone might volunteer to run another one and we could get most of the waitlist into the games.

I plan on running InSpectres. It is an improv, storytelling RPG (aka, nothing is prepared beforehand and everything is made up on the spot, mostly by the players). I will have copies of Fiasco, A Quiet Year, PsiRun, and Zombie Cinema, which are all storytelling/improv type games. PsiRun requires a GM, the other three do not, but do need someone who has read the rules (Zombie Cinema is the shortest rulebook of the three). If someone is up for moderating one of these four, I can get you the rulebook before hand so you can brush up.

I would like to stress that you do not need to know anything about the games being played to be able to play. These are self contained one shots, and you will learn everything there.
