Cards Against Humanity has finally arrived

  • Jul 6, 2013 · 6:00 PM
  • This location is shown only to members

After a few false starts, we finally have a date for Cards Against Humanity.  Cards Against Humanity is the evil step cousin of Apples to Apples.  You're still matching cards with the proper description but now all your choice are evil.  If you are easily offended, this is probably not the game for you.  If you're not embarrassed by your lack of common decency at the end of the game, you probably haven't played it to the fullest.  To give you an idea of what you'll see, one of the less offensive cards reads "Why do old people smell?"

As we get more details about location, directions, etc., we'll post them.  We're are going for a 7 PM start time on the July 6 (Deb's Birthday), however.  We won't be collecting the usual dollar, however, we are going to make this a potluck event.  I believe there will be a birthday cake there, however, feel free to bring a snack or drink item (especially if you would like to consume other drinks or snacks...)

Hey guys. Now that you've played the game, I was wondering if anybody would be interested in purchasing Cards Against Humanity. I have a brand new set that I bought the other day, thinking that I might play it with some close friends. After reviewing the game, I decided that it really isn't for me. Let me know. I'd be glad to bring it to our next game night.

    Lots of fun. Thank you.

Someone, Joe? asked for BLT Dip recipe.
    http://www.keyingredient.com/recipes/514370038/omg-blt-dip/

I tweaked it a little. I fried the onions in butter instead of raw onions, I used cheddar & Swiss cheese & horseradish instead of mustard.

    Happy Birthday, Deb!

We're bringing beer, and it looks like we'll bring some chips, too! Are we going to have dinner here or should Rob and I have dinner beforehand?

There will probably be enough food there, but I'm not sure what most people are bringing, so it's up to you.

Do you need paper plates and stuff?

I'll be bringing my husband. This is more of a maybe because a) we're doing something else in Owings earlier that day that lasts until evening and b) this is roughly a week before my due date.

For how many people should we plan our snack / beverage contribution?

    July 2, 2013

    • Bridget

Deb, should all of the food / drink be gluten-free for you?

      July 2, 2013

    • Deb B.

That is definitely not necessary. Most of the people there won't have crazy dietary requirements like mine (no gluten, mushrooms, beef, poultry, or pork), so I'm sure whatever you bring will be enjoyed by many of the others. I'll make sure there is enough GF stuff for the 2-3 GF people who will be there.

  • Bridget

By the way, for those interested, my friend Amanda (from college), writes a gluten-free blog.

We're going to start things off around 6, and then go until people want to go home. Plus, I'm hoping there'll be birthday cake there, but just a warning: it'll be gluten-free.

    June 25, 2013

    • Deb B.

That should be totally fine. We're going to go until people want to go home. I'll have some family/friends there, too, so I expect that it'll run pretty late.

I decided that is not the game for me, so I'm going to take a pass. Enjoy and happy birthday!

    This looks really funny! :)

Tami brought up an excellent point earlier. If you have not played this game, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE familiarize yourself with its concept before RSVP'ing positively. No one's allowed to be offended on my birthday! :) Tami posted a link to some more info about the game below. Feel free to click on the "download pdf" link on that page to see examples of the cards for yourself.

Let me know if you have any questions. I can't wait to see you guys there!

      Thanks so much. Serious allergies.

      June 28, 2013

    • Deb B.

Totally understand. I can't guarantee I won't have any cat hair on my clothes because the kitty over at my place is a serious lovebug, but where Danny lives they don't allow any pets but caged ones. I don't even think the landlords are particularly excited about the birds, but that is what it is.

Although I won't be attending, I'm concerned that people might sign up without knowing what they are getting into. I suggest you view the videos on the following site for examples of what the game is like. If you think you might be offended, don't play this game! http://cardsagainsthumanitygame.com/cards-against-humanity-examples/.html

Not really my type of game

It's the house on the South East corner of Odenton Rd and N Patuxent Rd. There's a train station parking lot virtually across the street that we can use, so there's more than plenty of parking for the place.
