Looking Forward to 2013

Hello, Fellow Gamers!

 

As we wrap up 2012, we've got some news to share with you from Anne Arundel Boardgames Meetup!

 

First, the financial report.  From January through November of 2012 we held 36 events at Caribou Coffee and 5 outside events with 461 attendees.  From February 21 through November 20, the following funds were collected and dispersed:

Money Collected in Dues: $733

Tips to Caribou Staff: $353

Meetup.com Fees: $199

Boardgames Purchased: $145

Other Items Purchased: $38

Balance: -$2

 

Second, for 2013 we will have four regular meetups at Caribou Coffee each month: 1st Thursday, 2nd Wednesday, 3rd Tuesday and 4th Monday (new).  We will also have one to two events outside of Caribou each month, including: bowling, pub trivia, miniature golf, corn mazes and events with other gaming meetup groups.  Membership dues will remain $2 for events at Caribou.  For events outside of Caribou, you will be resonsible for the fee to the site, but will owe no fee to the group.

 

Third, we also have new assistant organizers.  Joining Tami (1st Thursday) and Deb Bright (3rd Tuesday), we have Kim Riley (2nd Wednesday) and Alice (4th Monday).

 

Fourth, we will soon be posting the game nights at Caribou  for January 2013.  All evenings start at 7:00 PM.  Schedule is tenative:

Thursday, January 03--Rummikub.

Wedensday, January 09--Sequence.

Tuesday, January 15--New Games.

Monday, January 28--Card Games with a Special Deck.

In addition, on Sautrday January 26 we will be having a bowling meetup at Crofton Bowling Center.

 

Finally, we have noticed a problem with no-shows.  We have had several events approach capacity.  This leads to the possibility that some members are blocked from attending by other members who either cancel at the last minute or don't show up.  Beginning with January 01, everyone will start with a clean slate in terms of no-shows.  After three no-shows (a total of five), you will be receive a warning.  After two additional no-shows (a total of five), you will be removed from the group.  We understand that emergencies occur.  However, if at all possible, please let us know in advance if you will be unable to attend.  Even a few hours' notice can allow someone else to take your place.

 

In conclusion, we hope to see you join us for some events in 2013.  Feel free to keep on sending in the surveys or providing additional feedback and suggestions to the organizers.  Keep gaming.
