Stupid Theme Nite Ideas

2-Player, Party Games, Classic Card Games, and Dexterity themed nights all sound great to me.

<sarcasm>So we're agreed, next week, we're playing War, where ties are broken by having the players throw the cards across the room while the onlookers make bets on where they'll land.</sarcasm>

Can we do a theme night where Mark and Don play against each other all night?

(Regardless of what the bulk of this response may imply, I really AM in favor of these theme night options!)

The Don vs Mark theme would be great fun, then the next week Doug vs "the winner"

may be a good idea to combine a bit. Maybe have one of the larger quick games on the side to play while waiting for two player games to wrap up. Something like tumbling dice.

I like all the theme ideas.

We should add Euchre to the traditional game night.

I've gotten in the habit of telling people I play cards every Wednesday night because I got sick of explaining what kinds of board games we play after the "you mean like monopoly" response.

2p nite kinda requires everyone to be on board. I remember Tom Dunning going out of his way to say that he wasn't going to waste his time on 2-player games.

Traditional nite is an attempt to draw out people with normal card games in their pasts. I got Joe on Euchre, I was hoping for a few more. Perhaps Andy paid his way though undergrad by playing Casino for a buck a point?

The more I think about it, the less I think it's necessary to dedicate a night for Party Games. I'll just post it for Monday sign-up and see if anyone's interested that week. I hope so...

I would be on board for anything. Just so you guys know, there is a euchre and pinochle group on the meetup. I have been to the pinochle one 4 times now and love it. I play euchre too but havent been to the meetup yet

I never played Casino.

My game of choice was Spades (when I wasn't playing Magic in the back of Chemistry classes). I considered playing 9-ball for money once bars banned smoking, but I couldn't stand being around that many drunk college students.

A game I've not had luck getting Denise interested in that would fit either category is Cribbage. We played that a lot if college (though I rarely won), and I'd be up for playing it again, either 2 or 3 handed.
